Jane E. Weinschenk, 71, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on June 29, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is assisting the family.
Jane was born on November 20, 1953, in Bellevue, Iowa, the daughter of Lavern and Shirley (Freils) Keil. She married her high school sweetheart, Dennis Weinschenk, on January 4, 1975. She worked for the United States Post Office starting in 1978 and went on to be the Post Master of Andrew from 1987 until her retirement in 2009. Jane loved the ocean and river. She loved staying at their condo at St. Pete’s Beach, but she truly didn’t love anything as much as she loved her family and friends. She especially loved her grandsons, and loved watching them play baseball.
Jane is survived by her husband Dennis, her son Jayden (Haley) Weinschenk of West Des Moines, Iowa, daughter Brooklynn (Garret) Helmle of Kokomo, Indiana, grandchildren Teegan, Gavin, and Davis, sisters Jill (John) Ruggeberg and Julie Scheckel, and sister-in-law Dorie (Randy) Peters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lavern and Shirley, and her parents-in-law Adele and Norbert Weinschenk.
The family would like to thank Jack and Cindy Dye, Tonya and Nick Heim, and her sister Jill for all of the amazing care and love given to Jane. The family would also like to thank the Doctors and staff at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, as well as Dr. Engleman’s office in Dubuque.
