Kermit "Kert" L. Marty

Kermit L.  “Kert” Marty, age 94, of Peosta, IA passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2024, at UnityPoint Health, Finley Hospital.  According to Kert’s no visitation or service will be held. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, Dubuque, IA is assisting the family.

Kert was born February 12, 1930, in New Glarus Township, Green County, WI, son of Floyd F. and Alma (Hoesly) Marty.  During high school years at New Glarus he played all the sports and in 1951 the U.S. Army called for two years of service. 

In 1954 he married Ruth Gempeler in the Swiss UCC Church in New Glarus, and together they spent nearly 50 years living in Madison, WI, where they raised their family of Deb (Dennis) Mathson and Craig S. Marty, wife Rosemary Bauchiero.  They also have two grandchildren, Chrisitan (Madeline) Marty and Julietta (Parker) Scott, and great-grandchildren, Theodore and Dahlia Marty and Otto Scott.

 Kert was energetic and especially enjoyed his years with Vita Plus Corporation.  He retired in 1994 and began spending winters in Arizona and making his year-round home in the Dubuque, IA area. Special hobbies included hunting and fishing.  He always had stories to share, bringing smiles and laughter to many people. He possessed a quick wit. He will be missed by family and friends.
