Lloyd "Butch" E. Schromen Sr.

Lloyd "Butch" E. Schromen Sr., 83, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on Friday December 20, 2024, at Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque.

Visitation will be held on Thursday December 26, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. A Funeral Service will begin at 6:00 p.m. with Deacon David Roth officiating.

Butch was born on July 7, 1941, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Lloyd F. and Rosella (Moore) Schromen. He worked as a bricklayer for Seedorff SMI in Dubuque, St. Dominic’s Villa, and lastly from Mount Saint Francis. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Cubs, as well as the Iowa Hawkeyes. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. On Sunday’s he could be found at the Kieler mall playing euchre. Above all, he loved spending time with the one’s he loved.

Butch is survived by his children April (John) Berendes of St. Donatus, Kelly (Jon) Merfeld of Cuba City, and Danny Schromen of Dubuque, six grandchildren Autumn, Jeremy (Heidi), Morgan (Lucas), Will, Aubree, and Robert, five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three sons Lloyd Jr., Robert “Robbie”, and Ryan Schromen, his parents, three sisters Mildred Stierman, Beverly O’Mara, and Rose Schromen in infancy.
