Loras had a colorful life of jobs and business ventures. He left farming to pursue more house building and established “Bogeville”. He drove mail trucks and managed several star mail routes. He also contracted truck routes for Eska Trucking in Dubuque. He was always involved in several business deals in Dubuque with real estate and contract building.

He made the decision to move his family to Northwest Iowa, where he purchased Nelson Products, a manufacturing plant in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. He owned and operated the plant for several years from 1977 to 2001. He pursued his real passion for farming near Webb, Iowa and developed a large farrow to finish hog operation. He was proud of his skills to pilot his own plane and fly freely to travel and check on business deals. He was also a world traveler and visited many countries.. He continued owning, contract building, trading, renting, and managing real estate during his retirement. His most recent business endeavor was purchasing a horse ranch that focused on racing quarter horses.

The last several years of his retirement were spent in Mission, Texas. Loras continued to enjoy stimulating conversations of politics, farming, and real estate. Loras left this world and will rejoin many family members and friends that have gone before him.

He will be very sadly missed by his family and friends, including his longtime friends.

As requested, services will be announced at a later date due to the fact of harvest.... as he always would say “The work is never done!!!”
