Loras J. Wolbers

Loras J. Wolbers, 74, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on April 28, 2026, at home, surrounded by his family.

Friends and family may visit from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Smith officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque.

Loras was born on December 4, 1951, in Bernard, Iowa, the son of Albert J. and Bernadine E. (Callaghan) Wolbers. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1970. On June 3, 1972, Loras was united in marriage to his wife, Sandra Hurst, in Dubuque, Iowa. He worked at John Deere Dubuque Works for 42 years and at O’Reilly Auto Parts for 10 years.

Loras is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandra; his son, Chad (Mandy) Wolbers; his grandchildren, Austin, Dakota, Cole, and Hannah; his siblings, Marie (Dave) Wiegand and Justin (Sharon) Wolbers; his brothers-in-law, Steve (Luann) Hurst, Elmer Schwers, Danny Muntz; and sister-in-law Kathy Hurst.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Bernadine; his daughter, Shannon Wolbers; his parents-in-law, Jim and Opal Hurst; his brothers, Pat (Yvonne) Wolbers and Albert Wolbers; his sisters, Roseann Muntz and Colleen Schwers; his brothers-in-law, Larry (Sue) Hurst and Ricky Hurst; three nephews; and two nieces.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
