Lorraine M. Salwolke, 91, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on July 11, 2026, at MercyOne Medical Center in Dubuque.

Friends and family may visit from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the Church of the Resurrection, 4300 Asbury Road, Dubuque, Iowa, where she was a longtime member.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church with Very Rev. Michael G. Schueller officiating. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is assisting the family.

Lorraine was born on November 27, 1934, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Marie (Enrst) Hingtgen. She graduated with the Class of 1953 from Dubuque Senior High School. She was united in marriage to John Salwolke Jr. and together they built a life centered on family and faith.

She worked at the Dubuque Packing Company for 44 years and was a proud member of UFCW Local 150-A. She was also a longtime member of the Dubuque Bowling Association, where she enjoyed one of her favorite pastimes as an avid bowler.

She found great joy in gardening, caring for her lawn, and spending many years boating on the Mississippi River and camping with family and friends. Above all, she treasured time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, who brought her endless happiness.

Lorraine is survived by her husband, John; son, Ross (Cathy) Salwolke; grandkids, Athena, John and Ross Jr.; great-grandkids, Kylee, Samantha, Mack, Myles, and Johnny; great-great-grandkids, Lacey and Adelina; sister, Norma; sisters-in-law, Grace and Janet; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; several brothers and sisters; and great-great-grandson Ace.
