Marcia Matters

Marcia Matters, 75, from Aroma Park, Illinois, passed away the evening of Saturday, November 20, 2021. She was surrounded by her children and others who loved her.

Marcia was the daughter of Max and Alice Smith and widow of Bill Matters. She is survived by her children Kim Larsen (Terry), Pat Murphy, and Jenn Matters, her brothers Lyle Smith (Leslie) and Max Smith (Julie), grandchildren Lacie Ramirez, Tricia Kooy, and Claire Murphy, and so many others who were touched by her life and her need to take care of people.

Marcia was a nurse for almost 40 years, completing her Bachelor’s Degree and Nurse Practitioner Master’s program later in life, then teaching nursing classes even into her retirement. She also found joy in creating practical, pretty things for her family – sewing clothes and crocheting blankets, baking, and more. Marcia was stubborn, independent, and had a dry sense of humor that she shared with those she loved – and loving her family was truly the core of who Marcia was as a person.

There will be no funeral, but the family plans to hold a celebration of life in Colorado in spring 2022. Contact Jenn for details at jamatters@gmail.com
