Margaret M. Hayes, 84, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on March 6, 2025.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025, at the Church of the Nativity.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the church with Rev. Msgr. James Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Dubuque. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is assisting the family.
Margaret was born on January 4, 1941, to Malachi Haley and Mary (Powers) Haley. She married Donald J. Hayes on May 25th, 1963, at St. Anthony’s. Margaret found joy in spending time with her family and was deeply committed to her faith. Margaret will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the strong foundation she provided for those she loved. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Surviving Margaret are her children, Jim (Shari) Hayes, Julie (Paul) Rhomberg, Nancy (Chad) Berendes, Mark (Christina) Hayes, Greg (Vicky) Hayes; grandchildren, Andrew Hayes, Brian (Rachel) Hayes, Megan (Nathan) Heimstra, Peter (Jaci) Rhomberg, Tom Rhomberg, Daniel Rhomberg, Cayla Berendes, Mitchell (Carissa) Berendes, Jenna Berendes, Nolan Berendes, Bridget Hayes, Veronica Hayes; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Michael Haley and sister-in-law, Geri Connolly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Hayes; sister, Kathleen Brimeyer; brothers-in-law, Paul Brimeyer, Herbert Hayes, Cletus Connolly, Allan Hickson and Bob Feeney; sisters-in-law, Mary Louise Hayes, Kathleen Hickson and Millie Feeney.
A memorial fund in Margaret M. Hayes name has been established.
