Margaret E. “Marge” Klinkner 89, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, August 6th, 2025, surrounded by her family.
A private service for Marge was held at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, followed by interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery. For online condolences, please visit www.leonardfuneralhome.com.
She was born October 9, 1935, in Iowa City, IA to William and Theresa (Kauffmann) Coleman. After attending Saint Joseph Academy, she married Kenneth Klinkner at Holy Ghost Church in Dubuque, Iowa on May 14, 1955. He preceded her in death on May 17, 2017.
She enjoyed playing softball, volleyball, bowling and painting figurines. She also enjoyed her years coaching volleyball at Resurrection School in Dubuque. In her later years she loved watching western movies.
She is survived by her four children, Lynn (John) Klostermann, and Cindy (Jim) Riedl, of Dubuque, Kari (Randy) Schueller of Asbury, and Brian (Tracy) Klinkner of Dubuque. Seven grandchildren, Nate (Aimee) Klostermann, AJ (Nikki) Riedl, Kati (Chris) Averkamp, Allison (Jason) Zamastil, Linzi Schueller (Kelsey), CJ Riedl, and Sam Klinkner. Eight great grandchildren, Emma, Ava, Evalie, Jase, Ella, Nora, Jackson, and Nolan. Also surviving are brothers and sisters-in-law, James Colemen, Art (Shirley) Coleman, Claudette Coleman; sisters-in-law Norma Jean Klinkner Waterman, Patricia Klinkner Robson and Shirley Klinkner along with many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her three sisters, Delores Greenwood, Lucille Kane, and Jeanette Henkel. Two brothers, Billy and Donald Coleman, and in-laws Sheryl Coleman, Leo Greenwood, Charles Kane, Robert Henkel, Grace Klinkner and Herman Klinkner.
Marge’s family extends their sincere gratitude to Dr. Andrea Ries, the staff at Hawkeye Care Center, Above and Beyond Hospice Care, and especially her granddaughter Allison for the exceptional care provided.
