Marien Margaret Hickey Davis passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, at 9:40 a.m., held close in the prayers and love of her family. She was 75 years old.
Family and friends may gather from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 5th, 2025 at St. Raphael Cathedral. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. with Very Rev. Dennis Quint officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, Dubuque, Iowa is assisting the family.

Born on May 1, 1950, in Dubuque, Iowa, Marien was the cherished daughter of Frank and Mary Hickey. A proud graduate of Dubuque Visitation Academy and Clarke University, she carried throughout her life a deep faith, devotion to family, and a spirit rooted in compassion and service.
Marien was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Dudley Davis III, her parents Frank and Mary Hickey, and her brothers John Hickey and Bill Hickey.
She is survived by her five children: Michael Bunting and his spouse, Javier Meggo; Kathryn Bunting and her spouse, Rebecca Sutter; David Bunting; John Davis and his significant other, Ashley Kramer; Benjamin Davis and his spouse; and Erin Dix
She is also survived by her brother Joe Hickey, along with her beloved grandchildren—Avery, Elliott, Aubrey, Wyatt, William, Max, and James—as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who were blessed by her steadfast love and joyful presence.
A devout Catholic, Marien lived her faith with quiet strength and steady devotion, finding comfort in prayer and the sacraments. She expressed God’s love through simple daily kindnesses and a generous heart.
Her family expresses deep gratitude to Dubuque Hospice for their exceptional care, compassion, and guidance in her final months. They also extend heartfelt thanks to Sherry Jacobs, cousin Jeannie Shanahan, Ashley Kramer, and Cheryl Kramer, whose love, time, and care provided Marien with comfort, dignity, and companionship during her final chapter.
