Michael J Schnee

Michael J. Schnee, 76, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on February 6, 2026.

A celebration of life will be held June 20, 2026 from 2:00pm to 5:30pm at The Event Center at 7 Hills, 1098 Jackson St. Dubuque.

Michael was born November 10, 1949, in Dubuque, the son of Herbert and Rita (Jacobi) Schnee.

Mike graduated from Wahlert High School, attended Loras College and worked at Flexsteel.

Mike was a kind, funny and loving father and grandfather. He is survived by three daughters, Tracy (Mike) Kurzeja, Holly (Rob) Shaw, Kristy Schnee (Ross Miller) and a grandson, Lceid Shaw.

He is preceded in death by his parents, uncles and brother Danny Schnee.

Mike had a great sense of humor and was a master joke teller. He had many hobbies such as painting and building model car kits. He enjoyed fishing, especially on ice. Mike was an excellent cook, and his blueberry pancakes were the best in the world.

Music was a huge part of Mikes life. After retiring from Flexsteel he started learning the guitar and drums, he even joined a band for a short time.

Though the Beatles were his favorite band he appreciated all kinds of music. He bonded with his daughters over music, always sharing their favorite songs and bands with each other.

Mike had an amazing smile that would light up when he spent time with his grandson Lceid. He loved hearing about all the things teenagers are up to. The two of them really enjoyed just “chillin” together.

Mike will be dearly missed.
