Nancy Ann (Cole) Brokus, of Dubuque, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at home surrounded by her family.
Per Nancy’s wishes, a private family memorial service was held at Linwood Cemetery. Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd., is assisting the family.
Nancy was born in Dubuque, the daughter of Charles and Kathleen Cole. She married James Brokus and made her living as a homemaker. She loved spending time with her grandkids, but in her spare time found joy in playing BINGO, watching WWE – especially Batista, watching and listening to Elvis Presley. She also enjoyed going for convertible rides to get Whitey’s ice cream.
She is survived by her husband James B. Brokus; her children, Jack Johnson, Lori (Missy) Johnson, Joe Johnson, James D. (Trica) Brokus, Laci (Keith) Kennedy; her grandchildren, Ayla (Mike) Meyer, Ryan Nadermann, Kaci Nadermann, Joseph (Shauna) Johnson, Sarah Brokus, Megan (Michael) Sheriff, Jayce Kennedy, Jayden Kennedy, Jayna Kennedy, and Jayme Kennedy; ten great grandchildren; her in-laws, Peggy and Mike Thomas, Diane Kelly, Billy Brokus, Donna Brokus; along with many nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers-in-law, John Brokus, David Brokus, William Brokus, Tommy Brokus; sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann Brokus, Rita Freibel, Theresa Brokus; niece Kimberly Carner.
