Pamela Margaret (Stuart) Cheney

Pamela M. Cheney, 78, of Dubuque, passed away on Wednesday February 18, 2026, at Luther Manor – Hillcrest.

A visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Sunday February 22, 2026, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. The visitation will conclude with a Tribute to Honor Nurses Service. 

Pamela was born on April 21, 1947, in Bellevue, Iowa, the daughter of Donald and Madonna (Lampe) Stuart. She married Richard Cheney on August 17, 1968, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue, and he preceded her in death on October 23, 2023. 

Pamela graduated from the Mercy School of Nursing and later received her BSN from the University of Dubuque. Her nursing career began working as a surgical nurse. She later worked in Health Education at both Finley and Mercy Hospitals. 

She is survived by her two children Christina and Christopher “Chris” Cheney both of Dubuque, her sister Sheila (Mark) Kelley of Platteville, a sister-in-law Sherry Cheney of Dubuque, and a brother-in-law Charles Prada in Florida, along with many nieces and nephews. 

Pamela was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters Portia Holloway and Paula Prada, and two brothers-in-law James Cheney and James Holloway. 

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Luther Manor as well as Hospice of Dubuque for all the wonderful care that they gave to Pamela.
