Patricia Doyle Obituary

Patricia Adair Taylor Doyle

January 4, 1942 – August 31, 2025

It is with sadness that we report Patty Doyle of Dyersville, Iowa, age 83 passed away after a brief illness in Dubuque, Iowa. She was a long-time resident of Dyersville and Peosta, Iowa. She enjoyed her last stay at Rose Garden Senior living in Dyersville

Patricia was born in Connecticut in 1942 to Kathryn and Bill Drake and grew up in Santa Clara, California with her mother Kathryn and stepdad Vernon, along with her three sisters, Anne, Bonnie, and Celeste. The household often included her extended family, her Aunt Laurie and Uncle Art Killam, as well as her cousin Stephen. She attended Santa Clara High School and pursued many varied interests. Vocations included a stint as deputy sheriff in San Jose, California, a time as legal secretary, a participant in a Miss San Jose pageant, and a guide at the Grand Canyon National Park.

Her many vivacious and enthusiastic qualities garnered her many friends, including a public bus driver who would stop right in front of our house and wait for her to come out. She was devoted to her cats Peeta and Crystal. They traveled with her everywhere, even across country from Iowa to California to attend her niece Erika's wedding. One of her many talents included speed-typing, and helping her little sisters with their school papers. She had a fantastic memory of people she met over the years, remembering their names and little things about them. Her love of all things HATS was well known.

Patty was preceded in death by her longtime partner, Jim Cummings, 91 of Dyersville, Iowa on December 9, 2022.

Patty is survived by her daughter Jeanine Taylor, her sisters Anne Drake, Bonnie Waude, and Celeste Shimamura, and her cousin Stephen Killam, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She will be remembered and loved by her family and many friends.

There will be a Memorial in her honor… time and place to be determined.
