Paul Parsons Obituary

Paul Parsons, 78, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, at home.

Family and friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Dubuque, IA, with a memorial discourse following at 5:00 p.m.

Paul was born in Mishawaka, Indiana on September 11, 1940, the son of Leo and Evelyn (Fisher) Parsons. He married Cheryl Robinson on October 3rd, 1970 in Mishawaka, Indiana.

Paul came to Dubuque with American Optical Co. and was an optician, later becoming a Mighty Auto Parts franchisee.

Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Army 572nd Ordnance Company serving from 1964-1966.

Paul grew up on the assembly line at Studebaker Automotive with his father in Indiana and enjoyed working on cars, watching the Indy 500 and riding motorcycles. One of Paul's hobbies was piloting small aircraft in Dubuque. As a father he always enjoyed traveling the country and visiting amusement, state and national parks with his family. He  appreciated camping trips with his friends. As a grandfather, Paul loved playing games with his four grandchildren and the occasional Euchre game. Rooting for the Packers was a favorite pastime for him. Paul was also active in the public ministry with the Dubuque congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl; three children, Jay (Kelli) Parsons, of North Liberty, Forrest (Sara) Parsons, of Portland, OR., and Kim Parsons, of Dubuque and four grandchildren, Emmett, Sofia, Emerson and Leona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Evelyn.
