Bob J. Gerhard, 97, of Dubuque, IA, passed away peacefully in his home at Windsor Park apartments on Wednesday June 18th, 2025.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 23, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd., Dubuque, IA, followed by a service and Military Honors accorded by the American Legion Post #6 and the Iowa Army National Guard.
Bob was born on August 28th, 1927, in Dubuque to Alphonse and Myrtle (Jewel) Gerhard. He married the love of his life Florence Freiberger in 1950.
The two were married for 67 years. Together they had five children, Cyndy (John) Meyer, Connie Gerhard, Curt (Theresa) Gerhard, Kelly Gerhard, and Carla (Ted) Wiessing; Bob's grandchildren ,Tracy Meyer, Drew Meyer, Katie Kieffer, Julia Wiessing, Griffin Wiessing, and Clara Gerhard; great grandchildren, Jaylynn Hirsch, Morgan Meyer, Payton Gerhard, Maddison Meyer, and Jette White.
Bob is proceded in death by his loving wife Florence Gerhard, his grandchildren Tyler and Sarah Wiessing, and his great grandchild Parker White, and brother Dick Gerhard.
Bob loved all his great and grands who all have countless wonderful memories of time spent with their “Papa Bobby”.
Bob was the oldest of his two siblings, his sister Rita Gerhard (Pickel).
Bob was a WWII veteran, who was proud to attend the Honor Flight, accompanied by his daughter Kelly. Bob also spent many years camping, fishing, snowmobiling, playing cards, and shuffleboard with his many friends. Bob and Flo were winter Texans surrounded by loving friends. During his career as a salesman Bob worked at Ferring Mobile Homes and later retired from Richardson Auto.
Bob was a family man with many friends. always patient, kind and loving.
