Roger C. Kleiner, 74, of Big Island, Hawaii, formerly of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on March 8, 2023.
Per Roger’s wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date in Hawaii.
Roger was born in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Charles and Lorraine Kleiner.
Roger graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in Dubuque in 1966. He was united in marriage to Connie Duffy in 1969, and together they have a son, Scott. In 2016 Roger suffered a stroke and the dementia journey began…
Dementia doesn’t care. Dementia is heartless. It cruelly, methodically dismantles the mind of the person we love, drawing him into a thickening fog of incomprehension until the person we once knew is reduced to a phantom in a withered body. It goes on and on, extracting your sorrow one tear at a time for years until, finally, it is over. Death claims its victory. We will search and find peace in time within the wonderful memories which Roger leaves behind. We are reluctantly grateful that his earthly struggles are now behind him.
Roger is survived by his wife of 54 years, Connie, his son Scott (Luana), granddaughter Keegan Oliver, brother Chuck (Linda) Kleiner, and sisters-in-law Sherry (Dave) Kleiner and Mary Kay (Jim) Kleiner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lorraine, brothers Jim, Dave, and Reverend Joseph Kleiner, and in-laws Clarence and Barbra Duffy, and brother-in-law Bill Duffy.
A heartfelt thank you to family and friends who provided unconditional comfort and support when it was most needed but most importantly for never forgetting Roger.
