Shaun M. Timmerman

Shaun M. Timmerman, 25, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on October 24th, 2023.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7th, 2023 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home with Deacon David Roth officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. 

Shaun Michael Timmerman was born on July 13th, 1998, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of John and Carolyn (Hanten) Timmerman. Shaun graduated from Stephen Hempstead High School with the class of 2017 and found work in Dubuque as a CNC Machinist at TDM Machining.

Shaun liked to lay low, and always kept his nose to the grindstone, working hard to save enough to buy a house one day. He made it a point to live life with few possessions, and the only décor in his home was either left behind from a previous owner, or gifted by his sister Danielle.

Shaun enjoyed iRacing, a sprint car racing simulator on his gaming computer, for which he had an impressive setup. He made a name for himself in the community as an extremely skilled racer and made many great friends during his time in the sport.

Offline, he loved attending dirt track races, and he would travel across the country to attend them, making friends along the way. He also enjoyed (not) betting on horse racing, but would brag to us about how much money he would have made, if he had. Shaun could also be found riding his motorcycle around town or with his brother.

Shaun is survived by his parents John and Carolyn (Hanten) Timmerman, sister Danielle, brother Shane, aunts and uncles Lori (Thad) Everson of De Forest, WI, Lisa (Larry) Hoch of Eau Claire, WI, Denise (Daryl) Sauerbrei of Urbandale, IA, Debbie (Phil) Meyer, Janet (Dan) Krewson, Allan (Kim) Hanten, all of Dubuque, Iowa, cousins Jakob Eigenberger, Samantha Sauerbrei, Alec (Sammy) Sauerbrei, Trevor (Camila) Meyer, Morgan (Jake) Doty, Marissa (Brody) Hulme, Lauren Winter, Cole Winter, Alyssa (Alex) Reiter, and Kayla (fiancé Brian Gilles) Hanten. We are going to dearly miss his infectious laugh and witty comebacks.

He was preceded in death by his sister Emily Timmerman, and grandparents Burnell & Janet (Pitzen) Timmerman, and Daniel & Barbara (Hoffmann) Hanten.
