Sr. Kathleen Orthaus, OSF

Sister Kathleen (Arlene) Orthaus, OSF, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on October 30, 2024.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Clare House Chapel, Mount St. Francis Center at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday November 7, 2024. Guests who are unable to attend may participate via livestream at https://www.youtube.com/dubuquefranciscans. Burial will be held at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is in charge of arrangements.

Sister Kathleen was born on February 6, 1937 in North Washington, Iowa, daughter of John and Olivia (Huegel) Orthaus. Sister received her high school degree from St. Mary High School in North Washington, Iowa. She entered the Sisters of St. Francis on Auguust 25, 1955 and made final profession of vows on August 12, 1961. She ministered in Iowa at Monticello, St. Mary, Remsen, and in Dubuque at Mount Saint Francis Center, St. Mary's, Stonehill Care Center, and Alverno Apartments.

Sister is survived by her sisters Joanne (Richard) Gleason and Linda (Bill) Noehl, brothers Tom (Marilyn) Orthaus and John (Eileen) Orthaus, sisters-in-law Wilma ORthaus, Theresa Orthaus, and Phyllis Orthaus, brother-in-law Dave "Bob" Jones, several nieces and nephews, and all of her Franciscan sisters.

Sister was preceded in death by her parents, sister Louise Jones, and brothers Gerald Orthaus, Bill Orthaus, and Richard "Dick" Orthaus. 

Memorials may be given to the Sisters of St. Francis, 3390 Windsor Ave, Dubuque, Iowa 52001.
