Veronica A. Millius, 86, of Dubuque, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on June 11, 2026 at Stonehill Care Center.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Dubuque.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Steve Rosonke officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Complete arrangements are pending with Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory.

Veronica was born on November 17, 1939, and grew up in Otter Creek, IA in Jackson County. She married the love of her life and best friend, James E. Millius Sr. on June 5th, 1963, in Dubuque Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 2, 2022. She would share with her family she wasn’t done talking with him yet and missed him every day since.

Veronica devoted much of her life to caring for others. While her children were young, she did daycare from her home, nurturing and caring for many children. When all of her children were in school, she started cleaning homes and businesses throughout the community. More than a job, her work allowed her to form meaningful friendships and lasting relationships with families and businesses she served. She cherished those connections and often spoke of the wonderful people who became part of her life over the years.

To know Veronica was to love her. She was truly one of a kind - gracious, generous and a natural caregiver whose fierce, vibrant spirit lit up every room she entered. She protected her family with unwavering devotion, and there was no better person to have in your corner. Her giving nature shone through in everything she did, and she had a remarkable way of making everyone around her feel seen, valued and special.

She is survived by her children Ann (Nick) Hosch, Rob (Judy) Millius, Jodi (Charlie) Digmann, and Dean (Patti) Millius, all of Dubuque; grandchildren Gracie and Connor Hosch, Luke, Logan, and Drew (Sophie) Millius, Tyler Millius, Jamie (Miles) Wille, Mitchell (Nellie) Millius, Jackson (Kasey) Digmann, Heidi (Nate) Stevenson, and Daniel (Brooke) Millius; great grandchildren Weston, Fletcher and Mattie Wille, Emma and Violet Stevenson, Harper Millius, and another one on the way in August; siblings Monica Hentges and Charles Beauchamp; brother-in-law Dave Theisen; sister-in-law Sherri Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.

Veronica is now reunited with her husband and beloved son, James “Jimmy” Jr. The family finds deep comfort in knowing they were both at Heaven’s gates to welcome her home and in that moment of reunion knowing she heard the words she longed to hear from Jimmy after 20 years apart, “Mother, let’s go.”

She is also preceded in death by her parents, sister, Elaine Malony, sister-in law, Beverly Beauchamp, brother-in-law, Robert Hentges, mother-in-law Fern “Marie” Holderman and in-laws, Robert and Violet Millius.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jeremiah, Michelle and all the staff at Hospice for their care and compassion, along with the staff at Stonehill Memory Care, where she kept things lively and freely gave life advice to all the “young gals” in the unit.
