Dorothy E. Perleth, 91, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Manor Care.
According to her wishes, there will be no public visitation services. Private family services will be held at Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd in Dubuque, Iowa.
Dorothy was born on April 4, 1924 in Dubuque, Iowa to James and Isabelle (Kahr) Mullady. She married William L. Perleth on December 5, 1944 at Sacred Heart Church in Dubuque.
Bill & Dorothy started their married life together in Dubuque and moved to “the farm” near St. Catherine’s, Iowa in 1958. It was there that they shared their next 42 years together, growing apple trees, planting their big garden, and raising the different livestock, pets and nature’s animals (many times inside the farmhouse).
Dorothy was a gentle soul who enjoyed nature, the simple things in life, telling stories of the past, and sharing her wisdom with those nearest and dearest to her. She especially found pleasure in spending time with her children and grandchildren, and loved cuddling her great grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, both of Dubuque: Terry (Barb) Perleth and their children Shelby (Joe) Schumacher, Meggan (Matt Guns), Raena (Anthony) Peterson, and Logan; Mike (Kim) Perleth and their children, Crystal & John; a son-in law Joye Bellings of Bellevue and his children, Jim (Tami) Bellings, Bill, and Cory (Jamie Gombert). She is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William “Bill” Perleth on April 26, 2002; her daughter, Starla Bellings on May 28, 2015; her siblings, Earl Falk and Ruth Heer; and her great-grandson, Brody Schumacher.
The family would like to thank her wonderful neighbors in Key West, who spent time with her and helped in taking care of her over the years. We would also like to thank the compassionate staff at Manor Care of Dubuque, for their loving care towards Dorothy.
