Marlyn, Rick & Mike - we have not communicated in years, but I want to extend my sympathy. My parents (Merle & Jeanne Kieffer) were great friends of Jim and Marlyn. We had quite a few fun times together as family. My least memorable was when I did a beach landing (broken clavicle) water skiing at Waupeton beach while skiing with Rick and my brother Tom. I think that was the only time we pulled 3 skiers at once, perhaps the last. Jeanne and Marlyn used to take us kids on family day trips, sometimes to the grocery store. I remember we were at your house on Floraview when we got work that JFK was shot. Jim and Merle always golfed together in the Monday night John Deere golf league at Bunker Hill. I used to caddy for my dad. Jim was one of the few golfers that did not seem to mind me being there and was always friendly. Most of the golfers were indifferent and ignored me. I remember several time Jim coming over to our house on Jeffrey Drive when Dad had a big project. I specifically remember installing new roof shingles and installing a large aerial tower for a TV antenna. My dad and Jim could really pound down the Pepsi Cola when it was hot.

Not to pick on you Rick, but I remember you as being a bit of a sh** disturber. I can still hear Jim yelling, Riiiiick !!! Never nothing bad, but fun times.

I hope you are all doing well. Mom is a resident at Ennoble Manor in Dubuque. If she could, she would send her sympathy as well.
