Joanne F. Koch, 81, of Dubuque passed away Thursday, August 20th, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center. At Joanne’s request, there will be no public visitation or service. Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd. is assisting the family.
Joanne was born on December 22nd, 1933 in Colo, IA the daughter of Joseph and Maude (Dasey) Sager. She attended and graduated from Colo Schools and was united in marriage to Ambrose M. Koch in Dubuque.
Joanne had several places of employment over the years. She worked for her husband Ambrose at Koch Radio and TV, St. Joseph’s Sanitarium, Xavier Hospital, and Caradco, all in Dubuque. Years later she moved to Florida where she worked for Ocala Regional Hospital. After her retirement she moved back to Dubuque and helped her son’s with they’re businesses; “Tony’s Jewelry and Loan” and “Paul’s Tap”.
She was a very caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Joanne worked hard her entire life. Some of her hobbies were fishing, hunting, playing cards with family and friends, baking, and completing any puzzle she could find. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, family was certainly most important to her.
Joanne is survived by her brother Jerry Sager of Collins, IA, three sons; David A. (Nancy) Koch, Anthony J. (Robin) Koch, and Thomas A. (Patty) Koch, a daughter-in-law; Linda Koch, a son-in-law; Bill Andreson, and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ambrose “Cookie” Koch, a son; Michael “Big Mike” Koch, daughters; Theresa (Koch) Andreson, and Cathy “Maggie” (Koch) Roling, and son-in-law; Wayne Roling.
No memorials will be necessary per Joanne’s wishes.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to daughter-in-law Robin Koch and granddaughters Misty Wise and Maria Kindria for the special care and attention they gave to “Ma Red” over the last few years of her life.
