I was quite sad to hear of Mary Ellen's passing! I worked with her at the convent. She was such a funny, sweet and hard working woman! I really enjoyed working with her. My deepest sympathy to Mary Ellen's family! I'm sure she will be greatly missed!

I am sorry I wasn't able to drive back from Des Moines to attend the services. I remember Aunt Mary Ellen as being quiet but having the kindest heart with a smile on her face always. She will be missed.

Aunt Mary Ellen was a great lady that as I child I always respected. I am so grateful that she suggested that mom and dad sell their home in East Dubuque several years ago and move to Alverno apartments where she and Mary Ellen could be close and visit with one another in their later years. She will be greatly missed by mom and dad and all the residents at Alverno. Deepest sympathy and may God's peace comfort you all today as you celebrate the life and many memories of your sweet mother and grandmother. She was a true gem! Julie (Harle) Kirkus
