I am so very sorry for your loss. Please find comfort in God's sure promise of a resurrection as set forth in the Bible. (Acts 24:15; John 5:28,29) Those who are raised to life will have the prospect of never again being subject to misery, sickness, or death. (Revelation 21:4) I hope that reflecting on these thoughts will give you some relief during this difficult time.

I had the pleasure of working with Dick in the early 1990's during the early days of my career with TelecomUSA/McLeodUSA. He was such a gentleman and a great storyteller. I still remember he would send our team candies from the Monastery every year at Christmas. He was a man of great faith and always spoke lovingly of his family. Rest in Peace Dick. Prayers of comfort and peace extended to his wife, children and extended family.

I remember Dick when I was a student at Nativity and in high school when Dick would be around his brother Jim and it was the rare time when I was able to see someone bust on Jim - his older brother Dick was great. I was also the paper carrier and Dick always had a welcoming face and kind word for me - it was always appreciated. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all of you.

Message from Fr. Jim Secora

Dear Rita, Steve, Jeff, Julie and Jim,

I was saddened to read Jim's email informing me of Dick's death. Just the other day I found myself reminiscing about him and our time together at Wahlert High School. How provident of God that it happened to be the day he died. Dick taught me much as a "newbie" teacher about many things. I enjoyed the friendship that developed and the many good conversations and laughs we shared. His life influenced many with his care and concern. Know that I shall keep him in my prayers and offer a Mass for him this coming Wednesday, March 29. Know, too, my prayers for all of you at this time. These last years were ones of great suffering for Dick and all of you. May he now enjoy the fullness of life promised those who share the cross of Jesus. May the same Jesus give all of you his gifts of consolation, peace and healing. My love to all of you!

Sending love and feeling sadness for Rita and the kids during this hard time. Osty and Rita were friends with my parents, Mike and Bobbie Dillon, and we had many fun times on vacatoins together. He was also a Dean at Wahlert when I attended there from '78-'82. It came in handy as a student to have connections with the Dean!!! Sending love for healing to ALL the Osterberger Family!!!

Hearing of Dick's passing, saddens me greatly. I love you, Rita, and I pray your family can realize this is in line with what God wants from us, and of him. As hard as it is, you will eventually understand the love Dick had for you, and the hope he had for the eternity we all strive for. The reason I know that is because he was raised in the Nativity Parish, and the Sisters of Visitation gave us everything we needed to love one another and reach Heaven...
