Richard Rath was my Grandpa for a while there. Unfortunately our paths got separated along the way. I loved coming and visiting that time when I was a teen. I will never forget the times we got to share. I will most cherish going to the barge with Grandpa and hanging out with his buddies and him all day. I wasn't made aware of his passing, but my heart must have felt it. I lost two grandpa's around the same time. My mom's dad and my adopted dad's father. I never knew why my mom's dad's funeral hit me so hard until I found out that the man that used to be my Grandpa Rath also passed around the same time. He will always hold a special place in my heart and I will never forget him or Grandma Rath either. I wanted to come and leave a little note since my mom has now passed away. Those loving memories of how she touched other people's lives are all I will be able to get about her anymore. They put a smile on my face and sometimes bring a tear to my eye. I hope all is well with Grandma Rath and also with the rest of the family. I send my love and condolences to you all. May you all find a sort of peace as you continue to go forward in your lives in the future.

You were always kind to me. May those left here without you find peace in your absence knowing you are with the Lord.
