Rosemary Ernzen, 64 of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Unity Point Health, Finley Hospital.
Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2015, Rosemary’s birthday, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Msgr. Thomas Toale officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 Thursday at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where wake service will be held at 3:00 p.m.
Rosemary was born on September 25, 1950 in Dubuque, Iowa the daughter of Ralph and Florence (Hamilton) Steffan. Rosemary united in marriage to Donald Ernzen on July 21, 1979 at St. Mary's Church. They were blessed with 36 loving years together. They just returned from their yearly trip to Wapello a couple of days ago.
She had a kind heart and liked to make people laugh and enjoyed her flower gardens and doing crafts. She enjoyed mother nature, animals and collected large wind chimes and clocks. Their dog Barney, was a highlight in her life and they played ball everyday.
She prayed the rosary daily and would be praying for all of us. Her parents were her life until they passed away, now she is in Heaven with them.
She is survived by her husband Don, her mother-in-law Florence, twin sisters Judy (Paul) Mootz and Jane (Don) Weber. Her nickname by them was “Rody”. Her nieces and nephews, Kevin & Sean Weber and Bob & Jenny Weber, Kelly (Tony) Aitchison, Kathy (fiance, Sly Hammerand) Mootz, Jenny Mootz. Great nieces and nephews, Peyton and Nick Weber, Adelei & Jack Aitchison, Dylan Mootz and Devon Winfrey, Carson & Natalie Weber, along with Don's brothers and sisters and their children.
In lieu of flowers a Rosemary Ernzen memorial fund has been established.
