Chad was a beautiful person. We shared a liking to the song "fake plastic trees" by radio head. I miss the nice times we had. I regret the times we didn't have. I want to call you back. I didn't have the strength or the patience to help you and comfort you on that night. Be well with God Chad. I will never forget you my friend.

Chad, I got to know you through your dad telling me about you as a child. I loved your dad's voice when he spoke of you, it was always filled with love. I always pictured you in my imagination doing the stuff your dad talked about. I got to know you better through letters. I found I was learning to love the little boy your dad talked about. We became friends over the years. You always made me laugh even when you would tell me who won or the scores before I got to see the game. You were always so excited when the Hawkeyes won and you told me their score but I couldn't tell your dad because we hadn't watched the game yet. I had told you many times and I stand by what I said then: I may not be your mom but you were like a son to me. The conversations we had, the smiles I got to see when we visited, the hugs, your laughter and your sense of humor will always be carried in my heart. I love you. I miss you. Pet Gunny for us. Give your mom a hug from us and a salute to your uncle Al. We love you.
