Robert A. Ege, 84, of Dubuque, Iowa succumbed to the extremely rare disease of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Friday, August 11, 2017 at Manor Care.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 16th, 2017 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road with Pastor Jeff Suits officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League. Interment will be in Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 15th, 2017 from 4pm 7pm at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road.
He was born on February 27, 1933 in Dubuque, Iowa the 4th child of Carl and Clara (Klein) Ege. He served in the US Army from February 9th, 1955 to February 8th, 1957 at Fort Chaffe, Arkansas. While there he met Edith C. Shipley, and they married on November 18, 1956 at First Baptist Church in Van Buren, Arkansas. He retired from John Deere in 1992 after 27 years as a carpenter for the company.
He was presently a member of the Platteville Free Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife Edith; from their union, two daughters were born, Cynthia (Gary) Williams, of Lancaster, WI, and Grace (Vaughn) Moody, Phoenix, Arizona. His grandchildren, Audrey Williams, of Houston Texas, and Aaron Williams, of Cedar Rapids; along with several nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Raymond and Donald; a sister Marjorie; his father and mother-in-law Rev. H.W. and Viola Shipley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque.
