Doris M. Wittman, 86 of Dubuque, Iowa passed away on Sunday, June 5th, 2016 at home surrounded by family.
Funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 10th at Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Ghost Church with Rev. Dwayne Thoman officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 9th, 2016 at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road where a wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m.
Doris was born on July 10, 1929 in Canada the daughter of Donald Archie O’Connor and Zelda Gutowski.
She married Robert Wittman on September 18, 1949 and he preceded her in death on January 10, 2002.
Doris opened Wittman’s Nutrition in 1980 and spent her life guiding others from ill health to well-being.
She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the National Nutrition Association. She attended the Nutritional Conventions to further her knowledge to help others with their health.
She is survived by her three children, Robert (Sharon) Wittman, of Dubuque, Gary (Lisa) Wittman, of Dubuque, Janine (Mark) McHenry, of Stillwater, MN. Eleven Grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Her siblings, Donald (Louise) O’Connor, Hazel Ganske, Muriel (John) Samaska, Darlene Smith, Myrna O’Connor, Terrance (Anna) O’Connor, and Melannie (Jerry) Ozubko, along with many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert “Bob” Wittman, her siblings, Claire, Aileen, and Patrick.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Dubuque and Oak Park Place for all the wonderful care they gave to Doris.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association for research.
