Eldon H. Waller, 92 of Bellevue, Iowa formerly of Sherrill and Key West, Iowa died Thursday May 1, 2014 at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue.

Funeral service will be at 10:30a.m. Monday at Rockdale United Methodist Church with Rev. Linda VonFumetti & Pastor Sandra Berryman officiating. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 1:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. Sunday May 4th at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd.

Eldon was born on March 13, 1922, in Key West, Iowa the son of Roy and Bertha (Hartman) Waller. He was baptized in the home of his grandfather Simon Thomas Waller that later became the Leonard Funeral Home, and lived in Key West until he was married. On May 24, 1942 at Rockdale United Methodist Church he married Irene McNamer his classmate from Rockdale School.

Eldon farmed near the airport until 1945 and then moved to Sherrill Iowa where he continued farming and also hauled milk, which was in cans at that time to dairies for
other farmers. Later he worked as a carpenter and worked on the Hempstead High School, Finley and Mercy Hospital.

Eldon joined the Sherrill Methodist Church where be became involved in many projects. He was a member of the Men's Club, Young Adults Club and the Youth
Director. He was happy to be busy and always made time for anyone in need.

Moving to Bellevue, Iowa in 1968 he and Irene bought the Roeder farm, he also worked for Vern Hingtgen as a carpenter and enjoyed going to work each day. Later when Vern retired the Sieverding Family took over the construction business and he continued working with them. Eldon and Irene joined the Bellevue Presbyterian Church and again he became involved, he was a trustee and also a deacon. He attended Sunday school for several years.

Eldon was a member of the Carpenters Union for 50 years and received a lifetime membership award in 2008. He was a member of the Farm Bureau all his married life.

Eldon and Irene owned and operated the Plains View Dairy Farm and farmed with their daughter and son-in-law Deb and Ardell Weis and grandson Zach (Kayla) Weis.  
Eldon loved Irene and was seldom seen without her at his side. He enjoyed going to Bishop's each Sunday and also the Pizza Ranch.

Making things out of leftover metal & wood he enjoyed. He had a sharp mind of repairing machinery. Eldon was a self made carpenter, electrician, plumber and whatever
else needed to be done.

Eldon loved his children, grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Each one was special. He loved to nick name each one like junior, little red head, Gump, biker, big
guy, etc. He was glad when they visited.

He is survived by his wife Irene, 2 daughters Diane (Thomas) Waterman, of Dubuque, Iowa Deb (Ardell) Weis, Bellevue, Iowa. 10 grandchildren Lisa (Jeff) Kohl, Michele (Matt) Swanson, Jeff (Tammie) Backes, Todd Backes, Jamie (Miguel) Quintana, Jeremy (Megan) Weis, Chris (Jen) Weis,  Zach (Kayla) Weis, Andrew Weis, Bailey Weis. Granddaughter-in-law, Sue Ostrander. 21- great grandchildren Holly (Tim) Sutter, Alexandra, Katelyn, Joseph Wiest, Joshua (Katie) Meyer, Kaleigh (Gregory) Musgrove Jr. Bryan Ostrander, and Jaccob, Kirstin, and Kallista McIntyre, Blakelynn Swanson, Tyler and Starla Backes, Colin and Olivia Quintana, Luke Weis, Collin and Atticus Weis, Aiden Weis, Van and Max Weis. 6- Great-Great grandchildren Bentley Sutter, Austin, Zoey Ann, Emily and Toby Wiest, and Liam Meyer. One sister Milly Neumeister, brothers, Robert (Connie) Waller, Wayne (Annette) Waller, Raymond (Joan) Waller. Sisters-in-law Audrey Waller, Alberta Waller, Norma (Francis) Koppen, Colleen McNamer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Judy Ostrander Oswald and grandson David Ostrander Jr. 3 brothers Clarence, Clifford, and David Waller, sisters, Wanda Lee and Ethel May in infancy, and Sylvia Osterkamp. Brother-in-laws; Fred Neumeister, Matthew Osterkamp, Robert Shireman, and Clarence, Edgbert and Charles McNamer. Sisters-in-law; Jennie Waller, Clementine McNamer, Hazel Atkinson, Beulah Loeffelholz, Eva Henry and Maxine Shireman.

In lieu of flowers an Eldon Waller memorial fund has been established.
