Louis W. (Louie) Brenke, of Dubuque, died Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Luther Manor
Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. Monday, August 22 at Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd, with Deacon John Stierman officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may visit after 10:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Louie was born to Charles and Viola (Coffman) Brenke on June 30, 1921 in Dubuque, IA. After serving in the Civilian Conservation Corps, he married Madonna M. Donovan on October 10,1942.
Louie worked at Dubuque Packing Co until his retirement in July, 1981. His interests included automobiles and traveling. He was a member of the Friendship Force and had visited 27 countries and all 50 states
He is survived by his daughter Patricia (Ronald) Smyth; of Dubuque; grandchildren: Tammy (David) Hooks, of Rockford, Illinois, Jeffery (Lisa) Pfalzgraf, of London, England, Kristin (Oscar) Garza, of Rockford, Illinois, Carla (Dion) Beyer, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, and Joshua (Christine) Smyth, of Dubuque. Fourteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Elizabeth in infancy; a brother Frederick; his wife Madonna; daughter Dorothy (Carl) Pfalzgraf and a great great grandchild Liam.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Luther Manor and Hospice of Dubuque for their loving care.
