Tommy Lee Boots, 82, 2735 Monastery Dr, Dubuque, IA passed away on April 4th, 2014 at Unity Point Health, Finley Hospital. Family and friends may gather from 3:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. Thursday April 17th at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd where a service will be held at 6pm with Dianne Grace officiating.
He was born on November 2, 1931 in Elkader, Iowa, the son of Clarence Boots and Grace Henrietta Louisa Lange.
Tommy married Jean Nicks on August 5, 1977 at Holy Ghost Church in Dubuque, Iowa.
Tommy spent over 40 years as a semi truck driver and was always ready to share tales of the road. During his time behind the wheel, Tommy was lucky enough to see 48 of the 50 states, Mexico and Canada. He enjoyed seeing the country, seeing how people lived in different parts of the nation and in his own words, he learned more driving on the road than he ever did in school.
Tommy is survived by his wife Jean; daughter Angela; sisters Darlene (Edward) Pottebaum, Carol (Lee) Jellison, Betty Ferguson; a brother, Richard “Dick” Boots; and many nieces and nephews that held a special place in his heart and adored their Uncle Tom.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, father-in-law Kenneth Nicks, mother-in-law Mary (Pottebaum) Nicks; sisters Sally Drier, Gwen Vanderah; and brothers Clarence “Jim” (Deanne) Boots, Kenny Boots.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Ronald Schope, the nurses and staff of Unity Point-Finley hospital, Angie and Keri from Above and Beyond, Jaime from Scenic Valley, and Dubuque Fire and Rescue.
